María de Lourdes Hernández Quintana

Artistic Formation
1998 - 2003
After a selection process of more than 200 children, Maria de Lourdes Hernandez Quintana is accepted into the the Escuela Provincial de Arte Pedro Raul Sanchez located in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. In this school she begins her studies in ballet as a professional artist.
2003 - 2007
Maria took and passed the National Admissions Exam fo enter into the National School of Ballet in Havana, Cuba. At this level, Maria began to focus her studies in the area of ballet and character dances. She graduated with Honors.

Professional Experience
Although she was still a student, Maria was chosen to teach children aged 6 in ballet workshops given by the National School of Ballet in Havana, Cuba.
2008 - 2009
Maria was a professor of 5th and 6th level students in the subject area of Foundations of Ballet and Character Dances. In 2009, Maria was also responsible for preparing 5th year students for their exam to pass to the next level of study.
2010 - 2011
Maria was hired by Coppelia's Ballet and Jazz School, under the direction of Jackie Morell, a former Broadway dancer. Here, she flourished as a professor of Ballet and Character Dance. She also participated as a dancer in the company’s productions.
After her time with Coppelia's, Maria moved to Belgium to work and study at the Yantra Academy under the tutelage of Artistic Director, Menia Martinez. Menia was a principal dancer at the Ballet of the 20th Century, directed by Maurice Bejart in Brussels. She is a Cuban professor who graduated from the Vaganova Academy. Menia was very influential in the development of Marías methodology and understanding of the Russian and Cuban techniques.
2012 - 2013
Maria returned to Cuba and was hired as a bailarina for the Ballet de la Television Cubana under the direction of Kristy Dominguez. Although she was not hired as a ballet instructor, her role included linking dance education as well as performance.
2013 - 2016
Maria was contracted as a dancer for the company Coco Bongo in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
2015 - 2016
Maria took the position of Professor of Ballet and Character Dance at the professional school of ballet, Coppelia's ballet , located in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo,under the direction of Frida Yosif.
